all right welcome everybody me and brett are in uh we’re within a penny on our bet right now yes market on copper is 434 ish right in all reality i i kind of forgot the bet i was trying to figure out like am i winning am i losing because some days i feel like i’m losing when i’m winning and some days i feel like i’m winning when i’m losing but i don’t know for the record this is a bet i want to lose i love winning i’m naturally competitive but i’d be happy to see this thing just take a run this week and it i mean so far we’re up six cents today right and i’m just trying to get my hundred dollars back mm-hmm well it’s sitting over here i’m ready i was gonna i was hoping to keep doubling it up and you know i sold i sold some copper chops you know and like the mid-fours and then as copper came screaming down i sold a load at like 421 just to like cover my ass in case it kept going and now i’m sitting there going well
i guess maybe if i would have been maybe a little more patient but as is life sometimes i think the scrap business opens you up opportunities to make good trades and bad trades and uh you know like i said you can’t get too hung up you’ve already filled that one for that 420 i know it’s back to the next one we’re back in the current market so you know things are still busy at all our yards i hope anyone that works at a scrapyard out there operates the scrap yard i hope you guys are busy i think some of the ferris scrap slowing down that’s true the ferris wheel now the non-ferrous has been been nice for our business that you know we’re we do a lot of bins roll off boxes you know trailers you know outside work i think we’re pretty busy just because you know we’re you know we’re very customer you know service oriented in the fact of going and getting the scrap um versus you know just having like a big retail yard that we kind of live and die by what people bring us so i think
that that’s what keeps us probably as busy as anything is just our mobile capabilities you know whether it’s picking up material from the customers or doing you know you know helping a demo company you know supply trailers or boxes or you know our ability to go bail and and crush and whatever else so we’ve been pretty busy and we we we’re pretty pretty lucky in that regard the flow into the yards on the ferris side has slowed down for our yards i mean that’s to be expected with the going down so much um that being said what’s the word for ferris next month we’re going to be there i think it’s it’s it’s going to come off for sure um how much i don’t know and a lot of it’s going to be like you know summertime you know it’s usually the flow’s decent and the the you know the steel mills and everybody else’s is you know i feel like there’s usually a lag a lack of you know um demand for for scrap so the price usually feels like it usually comes down in the summer this summer you know i feel
like depends on flow like we like we were just talking about it’s gonna really depend on if the steel mills are still running fairly strong and they’ve got good order books i’m i’m calling it now like i’m looking at our own yards and granted we’ve we we’ve been able to ship you know be pretty well because of our trucking company but depending on what everybody else’s flow looks like and what they’ve been able to ship you know the supply of scraps going to be tight this summer i really believe that on the ferris side okay now if the demand isn’t there it doesn’t really matter but if there’s good demand for new steel and you have tight scrap supply then at some point they’re going to it’s going to put a floor under this price and i i believe that that floor is coming sooner than later especially if you’ve got crazy oil pricing um you know other pricing stains fairly strong right now what’s killing the scrap prices is you got a you know a dollar that’s just at a 20-year peak in strength compared to you know all these baskets of
currencies out there that we like to think we could export material to but they’re not going to buy from the us if they can buy from other countries because you know the strength of dollars is what drives that market yeah and or at least helps it really helps it you know helps you know underpin it and if the dollar’s at a 20-year 20-something year high you know it doesn’t help that’s bang for your buck it doesn’t help your export cause you know well niko’s still getting beat up the stainless price has fallen what sell 30 since last six weeks yeah i think the difference like i’ve seen like a like from the peak to today you know just on my end selling material i think like a 50 cent 50 cent swing okay yeah you’re right yeah so and i’m sure people that hit the top of the market you know it could be bigger right i don’t know how close i hit to the top on some of those cells but i feel like i was close and you know from then to today or last end of last week moving
some stainless you know that’s a 50 cent swing gotcha aluminum’s taking a dip still you know still strong though yeah and still it’s still you know it’s it’s still holding its own um you know we’re just talking about copper to start the day with it’s you know it’s it’s holding its own i mean it’s 4 435 copper is still nothing to sneeze about um and then you know it’s the pgms are also our a big big focus for us and they’ve softened like palladium softened up you know platinum still hanging in there it keeps wanting to stretch i feel like it’s wanting to push it back to a thousand but it just can’t get enough momentum dollar strength has a lot to do with that as well um you know rhodium is kind of just hanging around that between 14 and 15 range it kind of moves up and then moves back it’s up a little today it’s a little bit um and that palladium you know from 19 to say 23 ish just kind of that range we’ve been seeing a lot lately so we’ll see you know those are the main things
we take we pay attention to all right well next week we’ll it’ll still we won’t be in june quite yet but we’ll be closer to knowing what the iron market’s going to do and yeah fill everyone in super stoked to get our new tire shredder this week oh yeah ordered the second one the second tire shredder um you know that business and the guy driving that business craig you know it’s been great it’s been a good kind of uh it’s been a good supplement to you know the scrap side and you know handling that that material and a lot of our customers produce you know waste tires so that’s always a you know a you know positive for us goes back to our mobile abilities so it’s going to be a big week yep can’t wait all right have a great one and enjoy your memorial weekend everybody thanks everybody
