foreign I saw some green in the market this morning yeah dude it’s kind of a nice I mean other than like the pgms right um those are all you know the other non-ferrous looks pretty good Copper’s up a nickel um today you know aluminum is hanging in there I think nickels you know nickel’s been kind of like you know it’s been you know up and down like 10 and a half yeah somewhere in there it wasn’t it broke it was above 11 not that long ago but it’s back in the tens it’s awesome 304 stainless prices in the 70s which was nice for a while um you know down back down to probably the mid 60s ish for now and I don’t know I mean which obviously the price of nickel is driving that but you know I think all in all I mean Ferris is we’re gonna figure out what Ferris is going to do here in the next day or two I’m guessing and uh be prepared for a soft Ferris Market so we’re gonna see some we already saw some dips but we’re gonna see some more dips yeah they’re
so mad it’s like anything like people get nervous this economy is kind of screwy right now so everybody’s kind of trying to figure out whether to or go sideways and yeah you know I think it’s uh there’s a little more than sideways this month you know so we’ll see how it all which is a bummer for we’re finally getting good weather here in Idaho things are starting to kick off you’re seeing the volumes pick up and it is what it is I don’t see those volumes dipping people need to get rid of their material yeah I don’t think most people stockpile including us you just keep it moving and you know we’ll be here to take care of them we got a lot of outside jobs that we already kicked off and the customers trust that’s enough where I told them like man I don’t know where it’s going to be there’s certain material you can stack there’s certain material you know a guy might be willing to you know set aside if you don’t feel like the pricing’s right and I feel like Ferris depending on the grade and what what you’re what
your holding capacity is you know we there’s certain yards we will hold a little bit and certain yards we’ll make a decision like all right let’s clean it out and like let’s make let’s make space obviously we’re pretty weather dependent over here the price definitely a good price and good weather will definitely bring out the scrap um but what’s we’re more dependent on really If we’re honest is a good General economy like because even though like um the retail part of our business is still decent when the weather’s good I mean it’s became a smaller part of our business as the years have gone by so really we’re probably as a company more dependent on a strongish economy so manufacturing going everything kind of moving because then a stronger economy means more demo because people are rebuilding or building new or whatever the case may be so I feel like you know or they’re buying new cars by The Cars you’re gonna get to the end of life you know um people I think a big misconception at the end of for the recycling Community from the outside looking in because I hear this
all the time when I meet new people they’re like oh you guys probably do really good when the economy is shitty I’m like opposite just like what you’re saying yeah and I understand that perception because I remember kind of thinking that way when I was a green horn yeah I was like oh you know we’re probably doing killing it when people are forced to recycle but the bread and butter is the manufacturers yeah you know I mean that’s the business that’s steady as the business is consistent that’s the volume that you’re looking for that’s your bin roll off you know Dutch trailer customers your demo stuff I mean that’s the big volume that actually moves the needle the retail Scrapper we while we appreciate the business and we want the business it’s not really a big needle mover for us anymore and if there’s a time in our business that that was like you know a big driving factor of of what we did and anymore it’s it’s because it has become such a service-based industry um more akin to like the waste side where you’re having to service it and service it
that’s kind of become the business model um for any successful you know scrap metal recycling companies out there so that’s why we invest in more bins every year more roll-offs we invest in our team we invest in new trucks and I mean it ain’t cheap I mean but but it’s worth it because then when you get a new customer they said hey I need 10 bins I don’t think well can you wait four months so I can get some made you know you gotta be able to pull the trigger on it yeah you gotta we all have them in stock I think that’s one of the things we’ve always been good at having bins roll off stuff in stock I mean that’s really a lot of how we built the businesses that we have is we’re willing to put inventory on the ground you know and I think that’s a big part of it whether it’s like been roll-off inventory whether that’s pipe inventory whether that’s truck inventory like your ability to build into inventory is it takes a while you know to get that to get that to come to fruition
and actually pay but that’s how you build absolutely we have a new podcast out came out Friday with Matan yep so everyone go check that out we filmed it at Israel we got two more coming out this week one with Mikey soon and our guy Dave David from premiere um no from Genesis sorry sorry David from Genesis so those will come out this week everybody check it out all right guys have a great day thanks
