## Welcome to A Scrap Life Podcast
### Introduction
Welcome to **A Scrap Life**, a podcast solely focused on the hustlers, grinders, operators, and business owners who live and breathe the scrap metal industry every day. Here is your host, Brett Eart.
### Weekly Insights
**Brett:** All right, here for another Q&A with Brett. How you doing today, Brett?
**Guest:** Good, man. How was last week? Was a busy busy ass week for you, huh? So proud of my wife. Shout out to my wife. She got her graduation last week and it was so awesome because every day she got a leadership award. It was a great week to celebrate all the work she’s done.
### Perseverance and Determination
**Brett:** I think things work out for a reason. Things happen the way they’re supposed to happen. If you just are patient enough and you keep trying and keep pushing, you’ll find that things will fall in line. Whether it’s education, business, or personal goals, perseverance is key.
### Tire Recycling: A Business Opportunity
**Question from Justin:** When did we decide to go all the way in on tire recycling?
**Brett:** The tire recycling business was born out of necessity. We faced challenges with landfills and escalating costs, which prompted us to start processing tires ourselves. This eventually led to the growth of our tire recycling division. The biggest businesses often start from solving big problems.
### Addressing Market Challenges
If you’re seeing a problem in your market, identify it and decide on the best approach to solve it. Whether it’s a service or outlet problem, finding a solution and building a business around it can lead to significant success.
### Expansion and Management
**Question about Personnel and Management:** How do we find the right people and managers for expansion?
**Brett:** The most significant leap in business is from one facility to two. It’s essential to identify potential leaders who can manage new facilities and train them. Consider your people as essential resources, or “peanut butter,” to spread across opportunities.
### Building Effective Teams
In building teams, you must train leaders who can foster growth and manage new additions. Sometimes finding the right fit involves trial and error—going through many candidates until the right ones are identified.
### The Value of Key Personnel
Finding someone invaluable to your operation, like a person who can train and instill company culture, can make all the difference. Recognizing and compensating such individuals appropriately can lead to considerable growth and success.
**Final Note:** Thank you everyone. For those in San Diego, enjoy your time at Remma. We’re in Idaho having fun as well. Take care!
