**Welcome to Built to Work**

Colin: Welcome to Built to Work, the podcast that gets its hands dirty, dives into the grit, and uncovers the heart of what makes the blue-collar world tick. I’m Colin, your host, and I’m sitting down with the people who keep our world running. From those tackling the tough jobs no one else dares to do, to the HR professionals working overtime to find the labor force we desperately need. Whether you’re in the trenches or behind the scenes, this podcast is for anyone who values hard work, determination, and stories that build the backbone of our workforce. So grab your gloves, your coffee, or your clipboard. It’s time to get to work.

**Interview with Marcos**

Colin: Marcos, thank you so much for taking some time to sit down with me. We got to shake a table here. All right, so, like I was telling you, I just want to get a chance to get to know some of our employees, talk about what you guys do because you’re really the ones that make all the work happen. So tell me a little bit about yourself and tell us what you do for Premier.

Marcos: All right, so first of all, I’ve been working for Premiere like two years and some months.

Colin: Awesome.

Marcos: When I started working with Premiere, I started working as a team lead on the second shift from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Colin: Those are long nights.

Marcos: That was my first break that I did there. But after one year, they shut down that shift because something happened there, so I was moved to another building. Currently, what I’m doing there is just sorting out some materials from different buildings. All the materials are taken to one place that is the warehouse. So what I do there is to clean all the dirty material, clean all the dirty material.

Colin: Clean copper, clean brass, clean yellow, red—many things I play.

Marcos: Yeah, exactly.

Colin: So, outside of Premiere, tell me about yourself. What’s going on in your life outside of work?

Marcos: I got a small kid.

Colin: How old?

Marcos: He’s going to turn eight this next January 1st. I’m a married person, but all my family is still living in Nicaragua. I’m alone here.

Colin: That’s hard. That’s why Premiere has been very important for you.

Marcos: Exactly. I have found a family in there. All the team, all the group there, you know, we feel like a family helping each other.

Colin: That’s so great to hear. It can really become a family.

**Discussion on Work and Enjoyment**

Colin: So you’ve been with Premier a couple of years, started as a lead, and now you’re doing more sorting work. What is one way that you find success or enjoy your work even when it can be tedious?

Marcos: I asked a friend of mine, do you enjoy your job? They said yes, I do. Because sometimes the work could be easy but if you don’t enjoy it, it’s a mess. One thing I have found in Premiere is I enjoy the job.

Colin: Being able to enjoy your work is great. I hear so many people that have easy jobs or hard jobs and they just hate what they do.

Marcos: One thing in Premier is you got an opportunity to talk to your boss in our case with Jelle, and we can share our experience and say, “Hey, we don’t feel comfortable doing this.” That helps because you feel like there’s someone who can understand you.

Colin: That’s great to hear.

**Cultural and Culinary Connections**

Colin: Do you miss the food from home?

Marcos: Absolutely. I was talking to Jelle, “Next time you come to Mansfield, bring some nacatamales,” which is a popular food in my country.

Colin: I’ve never heard of them!

Marcos: They’re so different from Mexican tamales—our tamales are called nacatamales.

Colin: Okay, that’s interesting.

**Personal Note and Wrap-up**

Colin: It sounds like you really enjoy what you do and find joy in the community you’re a part of. Thank you so much for all you do for Premier.

Marcos: Thank you, I’m so happy to be here and have this time with a person like you. There are many important people in Premiere, but we don’t often have this kind of meeting.

Colin: Well, I’ll tell you what, you’re the most important part of Premiere because you’re the one actually doing the work. Thank you very much.

**Closing Remarks**

Colin: Thank you all for listening to Built to Work. We’ll catch you on the next episode.
