all right how you doing tom i’m good i’m real good um we are here for our second hustle harder award of 2021. you want to introduce who it is yeah we uh did uh briar schlund um he’s currently in our hayburn yard right now um yeah and what where did he start well briar started here in boise um he started december of 2019 okay and uh briar he came to us he was uh in the military for a few years and served our country so you know kudos to him um on that yeah that’s awesome we have a few vets that worked here and yep we appreciate every one of them um he started here he worked with jay yep so i was able to see him a lot you know throughout that first he was here for at least a year yeah working and jay really trained him on the catalytic converters so he really started learning that and then he just showed that he could do kind of could plug him anywhere yeah yeah briar came in uh the position what we call just a metal handler which kind of exposes

our employees to a lot of different parts of the scrap yard and he just kind of was bounced around a little bit he ended up with jay working in the catalog converters really picked that up well that’s not an easy job a lot of that you have to identify you know obviously a wide range of catalogs of catalytic converters on that and your pricing has to be you know just right spot on it’s really hard out of all our materials that people have to learn that’s the hardest one in our yard to like really get down yeah and so you know with them with briar we kind of he he was doing that and then we kind of needed a person to you know do help on the outside jobs and then uh you know really more on the car crushing side and so briar started working with the jay and sal doing the car crushing and so that’s how uh briar kind of got exposed to uh with sal and he started getting trained trained on that how to build car uh car packages after they’ve been crushed crushing them all the you

know small things small details on that and so um what happened was we did a job down in haber and it was a huge job you know a lot of ferris material on this job and it all went to haber so that kind of put our hay burn yard at a disadvantage because we had a lot more material than we had employees to the process that material so you know sal going down there with with the help of breyer and alfredo and some of the other employees that we kind of pushed over there i was able to help you know we had a great crew down there already in uber but you know those three individuals really helped um you know the production yeah on the flow of the scrap metal um on that and so you know we you know amy she’s the director of that yard and she’s done a great job over there but as we all know amy wears like 10 different bunch of hats yeah she does a lot she helps out the material in yeah she also has to help get the material out yeah and it’s nice

that we’re able to find some pieces to plug in over there to help because their volumes are just you have the charts yeah and especially with that job and the increase and how they build that yard uh the scrap flows in that it’s developed really nicely so you know we were kind of looking for someone to you know help manage on the operations end of that so on the day-to-day activities and while briar was down there he just he really shined and he took the the direction from sal sal did a great job molding him and um you know a few months back we you know we made him the operations manager down to down to hayburn and you talk about a guy that’s earned it that worked for everything you know he he he’s got from from us giving him that opportunity um fantastic guy and you know since then he’s took it he’s ran but you know it’s one of those things too when you look at him was you know he didn’t he just kept plugging away he put his head down um and that’s the thing that every

employee here needs to realize is that you never know when that opportunity is going to come and if you’re doing the necessary things your number you know might just get called you know yeah because you just never know when that opportunity is going to be there so we’ve seen it time and time again where people are asked to do it you know and i’m really happy to see briar succeed and you know with also starting 2019 you know he succeeded and the things fell in place for him fairly quick and you know that could happen for any one of our employees yep and i think too you know just kind of looking at how what briar did you know to contribute to his success right first off you know uh being able to ask questions being to work every day and coming to work with the purpose and giving it is all i mean i know briar had you know all his days here you know that they haven’t been perfect but you keep grinding and you know every day you’re gonna try to make better than the next day um hey you know

it’s gonna work out for you yep yep well kudos a briar and you know we’ll be doing we’ll do four of these a year and we’ll do a final one at the end of the year and we’ll keep everybody informed all right sounds good thanks tom yep thank you
