all right we have metal monday on a wednesday how you doing today brett hunt day metal metal hump day i guess is what it’s going to have to be called today and you know monday things were looking better copper was looking better yeah i think every everything’s going to get their turn in the barrel right now and right we had a really good run for a long time i mean i don’t know 16 months or i mean what goes up must come down vice versa you know so you can’t you have to kind of expect some some volatility right now with everything going on in the world but you know like i said i i always i always get cautious when everybody gets really heavy on one side of the trade right and there for a while is everybody’s heavy on copper and it being you know some crazy eight dollars a pound everybody’s betting bet and betting you know that it’s gonna go higher and then that’s when it starts to roll over and i think the same thing can be true on the other side when it’s you know everybody’s bet
and it’s gonna crash and go to two dollars and they get everybody heavy on one side and that’s when that thing rolls over and you’re gonna you might have a chance to get the other to the other side get a little bit more positive momentum so it’s a traders game you know people are moving the market you know with big huge black trades um so i just you know we just kind of pick our lane and just kind of stick in it and stay steady right i mean we i saw a load of copper chops went out today you know from our from our facility i haven’t priced it yet it’s sold it’s going to deliver but you know it left today so we’ll see what happens i think there’s a little more run in this market or i probably would have priced some more earlier yeah that’s what it feels like you feel like we’re in for a little bit of recovery i don’t i don’t think we get to like four dollars anytime soon you know um yeah you just never know man with this crazy you know this crazy the world
is so interconnected nowadays you know compared to what it used to be so i mean things happening on the other side of the world are affecting the price of copper you know real time for us and i think you know that’s that’s where it is and i think we just have to just do the best we can you know try and buy it you know at a fair price where you can make some money leave some margin in there and you know keep keep things running keep your guys working keep uh keep the business going well one of our biggest electricians i just bought a load from him uh we do a bin service for him and he’s just picking my brain like beyond but he’s like honestly i like it going down i want to pay less for it you know yeah yeah worried about it he’s like his money isn’t made on the scrap price getting money scrapping it he tries to recover and reclaim as much of the money he’s spent you know so that part’s important to him but he was like just asking me in my outlook i’m like
man like i don’t think we get close to five in a long time i think we’ll get close to four again though you know this year i honestly believe once the fed shows a little you know you know shows a little bit of weaker hand and says okay we’re gonna you know stop raising the rates at you know 75 basis points or 100 basis points at a clip and who knows what the next one’s going to be you know all this jazz it’s going to slow us you know this this downward trajectory down look bounce right back up and spike you know i don’t believe that to be true but it’s going to slow the downward movement down but that could be a ways away and depending on what’s going on i mean just i’m not here to predict the future i’m just here to buy scrap sell scrap try and keep stuff moving keep the lights on and uh look for opportunities to grow our business yeah and we buy off current market and we adjust on the fly and you know up and down and we we said this over and over
again i’ll say it again so for all our customers here if your price never goes up or down like something shady was going on so it should be moving up and down absolutely absolutely um let’s talk about some other ones nickel talk about 304 crushed just getting killed it’s getting whacked yeah i mean i mean you’re getting you know some some pricing that you haven’t seen for a while now you know in the 40s that you’re you know for 304 and you’re just kind of like well i know what i’m doing with the stainless and i don’t know what everybody else is doing but i’m building i’m building a pile of bales and boxes to build a mountain i could be i could be wrong i’ve made a pile of floor of stainless and it was a hell of a pile this time i’m gonna you know i’m gonna pick and choose my battles but man i i got a i got a jag of it right now though i’m like dude i’m not selling stainless in the 40s sorry it ain’t happening you know maybe i’ll look back and wish i would have
but you know i’m gonna i got i’m gonna i’m gonna build the stainless mountain over here gotcha gotcha um ferris any any early reports on august no i’m but i’m getting the feeling that they’re they’re tired you know that the downward trajectory is kind of losing some steam and i still think it’s just because of volume you know there’s still there’s still a a lack of you know material out there to support you know so you can drive i took a drive yesterday i drove by i drove by to look at a job but it was close to some of our competitors so i drove by their yard to kind of just see their pile they have tiny piles i drove by our yards we have tiny piles the flow has been just strangleholded and that that’s partly because of the weather it’s been 100 degrees in idaho for two weeks you know yeah it’s weather driven as well but because it does seem like a lot of like our manufacturers are still pumping out material and all that but you know three months ago when our piles were huge like it’s really shifted
so maybe am i over optimistic i feel like we maybe are close to finding the bottom of that ferris market to be nice yeah you never know yeah you never know i mean but i think we’re close i think i think i i feel i’m feeling it coming i think you’re right yeah i feel that’s what i that’s why i was telling uh like some of our transportation guys jim i was like dude i really feel like we’ve we’re close to that bottom which would be good because we have some some jobs that we have lined up here in september that are somewhat price reliant you know so we’ll have to see where the price goes and then adjust again you know i think the biggest part when the market’s like this is just the key is just to try not to get too far over your skis as far as pricing goes and commitment wise so this is what we’re trying to do just like everybody else you know just trying to manage manage the the markets manage the um just manage the the pricing you know as far as the best you
can we’re not gonna say we’re not hedgers so we have to manage our flow inflow outflow make it get the to market right now if you’ve got a market for it that makes sense and and if you don’t have a market for it that makes sense right right now like let’s say like stainless then you know put yourself in a position to be able to make it you know stack it up for a while yep yep 100 and last thing i want to touch base on last few days we’ve seen rhodium kind of run and the other pgms not so much platinum palladium do you do you have a anything to talk about on those markets you know everybody i talked to on the rhodium it’s the rhodium rhodium as a metal is still very undersupplied right it’s there’s still there’s only so much of it out there and available and i think of all the of all the pgms platinum is in abundance still so you know you’re going to get price pressure if there’s lack of uh of demand for it palladium is probably in a somewhat similar boat with the automotive
market still struggling to kind of keep keep going um but rhodium because there is such a lack of um available units i feel like that one’s probably got the the best you know short-term ability to move in a positive manner and move in and quickly when when it starts getting bid real hard right so because you know the other ones you know you have a little more short covering this one is is it’s gonna be tighter supply so it would have that that number can move real quick in a hurry yep 100 all right well anything anything else for everybody that’s it sorry for the delay and uh from from monday to wednesday i was camping i had very little cell service but i had to go hang out with the kiddos and uh and the wife they’re all in summer vacation so i had to go uh go spend some time so a couple days later but we’re still here i’m glad he did that we will be back uh this coming monday at a regular regularly scheduled time and we’ll be back for everyone thanks brett have a good one talk
to you there yeah
