foreign had a nice Labor Day and that is why we are doing metal Tuesday today yes sir I’m doing good man happy to uh happy to be back for uh a Monday on a Tuesday between two two days into one yes sir I uh I enjoyed my time off I enjoyed watching some football um but I’m also happy to be back happy to get back to the Grind get some done around here let’s talk about Ferris man it’s our first one in September so how’s where’s where’s Ferris Landing for people this month you know I’m still trying to get the Mills to commit at least over here you know I’m hearing some grumblings on the export side Chad and I’s Bulls versus Bears we go through the ferris and markets that it’s going to be out today on the scrap live podcast but over here on the West Coast um the it’s actually feeling somewhat positive we’re gonna get some traction on the export side which is going to kind of make the domestic Mills have to compete a little bit which is a good thing you know I’m not we’re not going to

see any big UPS this month but we should definitely get a little bit you know positive you know attraction uh We’re Not Gonna it’s not doesn’t feel like it’s going down do you thinking 10 ish 20 years somewhere yeah I think depending on the grade anywhere from 10 to 20 bucks you know um and I feel like that’s that’s indicative of you know where this Market could be going in the future uh if if everything plays out well um you’re gonna have some Mills that you know Chad and I discussed you’re gonna have a there’s a decent amount of Mills out there that are going to go offline this month or you know maintenance and whatever else so you know placing scrap regionally could be a little bit more challenging depending on your region but over here in the Northwest um I feel like the sentiments you know fairly positive and a lot of that scrap flow you know we talk about all the time but it’s not like our scrap flow is is amazing so um I’ve seen it worse I’ve seen it better so we’re just kind of navigating through it like

the rest of everybody else yeah it seems like the flows are down you know nationwide at least people I’ve been talking to um nothing nothing real crazy in our area no big projects bringing a lot of stuff in I mean manufacturing is it’s not awful I’ve seen a lot worse on the flow there but it’s also not as crazy as we’ve seen it so it’s like this is you know real middle ground type stuff and but but up markets uh September you know and hopefully throughout the fourth quarter uh 2023 like you know maybe that’ll push you know push the hand of some people breaking loose at some scrap you know so we’ll see um really we’re not a whole lot of movement on copper down a little bit today down a penny and a half right now um but you’re floating around that 382 the 385 range um which you know had a copper had a fairly strong week last week to get it back to 385 and you know we’ll see if it pushes harder yeah aluminum is off this morning um Nichols you know off a little bit so you know

oil is up another dollar and some change yeah the uh you know the dollar is is strengthened up pretty good today as well you know overnight and so that that definitely pushed on the pgms it pushed on some of your base Metals um so it really right now it’s I mean you know I think if we can get a good export Market on the ferris side that’s going to help you know it’s going to be interesting to see that the dollar continues to strengthen that’s going to put pressure on your base Metals but I don’t know I I feel like there’s still enough fairly positive sentiment in the fact that the the economy is slowing down there is no doubt which means the scrap flow is slowing down so as long as the steel mills can maintain some order book demand and the export Market is there then maybe we’re we’re gonna see some positive momentum on the ferris side very good so bro I want to change course real quick football game tonight you’re coaching your boy I know we’re both fans of Dion Sanders you got on what Dion’s doing over there

and just in general because it’s really like I watched a lot of college football this weekend it’s really cut mixed it’s really it’s some people off and others it’s not and I think we could take this into not just football but any parts of life and and change in general it’s culture man he’s created a culture and motivated the youth in that culture in a different way than has what’s been being done in the past in my opinion he’s came in there he’s brought a little Flair he’s brought the marketing he’s brought the video cameras I posted it the other day he had Warren Sapp come in and talk to the team I mean he’s bringing guys with gold jackets you know Hall of Famers through the door you know there’s there’s a cultural shift like and by culture I mean just how how these teams are doing things and he brought 82 kids through the through the turned over the roster by 82 spots it’s unheard of nobody’s ever done that in one year and had any any remote amount of success right that kind of turnover he’s doing it in a way

that I think shakes the core of like what traditionalists are doing or think about college football but the reality of it is like the traditionalists the people that hang on to the tradition in my opinion you’re gonna get run over by the people that are willing to change and adapt and and build build brand in a different way right it goes back to the whole concept of marketing and being willing to the old fafo around and find out like we’re gonna we’re gonna build it from the inside out we’re gonna create a culture of uh excitement and we’re gonna bring people through that that lend you know good advice to these to the young kids like what he’s doing and he leads by example man I mean there’s something to be said for a guy that puts himself out there and says you may not like me that’s fine you mean I like how I do things that’s fine but that’s not going to stop me you didn’t build me so you can’t kill me and there’s a lot of Truth to that man and we talk about this often like we never want

to be a company that’s that stands on that’s not how we do it you know that’s not how things are done because once you get into that rut and you fall under that rut like you’re seeing the fundamentalist of college football falling into you yeah you’re gonna get left behind and you know the best way I can explain is like if you draw a line in the sand and you’re like I’m not Crossing this line because I don’t believe in it you’re gonna get left behind and that could go with any aspect of life if because life the one consistent thing in life is it always changes you know if Something’s Gonna Change you gotta change with it man so I applaud them I think it’s fun to watch he’s making it just makes it exciting like I would have never wanted to watch Colorado TCU if it weren’t for now you know do dude nobody won nobody gives it two shits about that game if Deion Sanders ain’t the coach no and DC who comes in there runs over him when the point spread was 20 points not that I’m a not that

I pay attention but yeah yeah 20 and a half if you want the honest truth but it depends on what what sports book you go with but the reality of it is like nobody that’s a game TCU a year ago would have would have blown their doors off but guess what man whether they’re this whether they match up skill wise or not I mean that’s here nor there one team’s 1-0 and the other team’s all in one and at the end of the day when like Dion says I got receipts like so far you know it’s playing out and there is there’s something to be said for taking that taking that younger that that youth culture and saying guys like we can do this we can put together a squad if we all believe and we’re all willing to do the work I mean he’s a big preacher on doing the work man no nobody’s better than the next guy he doesn’t have captains on his jerseys he’s got leaders and dogs right like like that speaks to that that generation and if you’re willing to kind of do that work and speak

to that generation I think I mean you’re setting yourself up for at least some positivity and so far it’s early to tell but there’s some positive things going on there yeah regardless how the season turns out I think the lessons we could learn from what Dion does is don’t get stuck in all the habits and be willing to adapt and be you know absolutely man be be willing to adapt to the environment that you’re in if they make the portal legal and you can get that many players to the portal and turn over Ross like that and you’re not doing anything illegal you’re not breaking the rules you’re playing within the rules but you’re doing it your way what’s the worst that could happen they were one in 10 last year you know they’ve already won the same amount of games yeah they did last year well cool push the envelope man push the envelope that’s all I can say all right to close it out we got scrap Expo next week which means we will be traveling a good chunk of the day Monday so I really want to do another metal Tuesday
